Know Diamonds before Buying them for Mother’s Day

Today most of the diamond purchasers care the least to check their diamonds in detail except the shape, due to a perception that all diamonds are equally beautiful. But it is always very important to understand a few basic facts about diamonds; after all they are a huge investment.

This year on Mother’s Day, before going on a haphazard purchase of diamond or diamond jewelry, take time to edify yourself on the basics of a diamond that determine its high value. Thus you can ensure an authentically gorgeous diamond while you gift it to your mom.

Basic Fundamentals of a Diamond-

1) Cut – It is one of the most important criteria that decides the brilliance and luster of a diamond and invites maximum price.

2) Color – The more the colorlessness, the more is the sparkle and value of a diamond. The presence of color diminishes the sheen of a diamond.

3) Clarity – Naturally occurring flaws and inclusions reduce the clarity of a diamond and thus increase its value.

4) Carat Weight – It is the weight of a diamond measured in a uniform way universally i.e. in metric carats where 1 carat = 0.2 grams.

5) Shape – It is the structure of a diamond, thus enhancing its beauty and charm. There are many shapes of diamonds apart from round and princess, like marquise, oval, heart, etc.

6) Certification – Always look for proper certification of a diamond given along with it. This will assure you of its authenticity and will provide its elaborate description.

Once you have understood well all these fundamentals, you can go ahead and hunt for your diamond and diamond jewelry on this Mother’s Day, and present the best lustrous and brilliant diamonds to your beloved mom.
